What MasterStudy LMS does well, and where it needs a developer

MasterStudy LMS from StylemixThemes gives you a lot out of the box: a drag-and-drop Course Builder, ten native course page styles, Elementor widgets for course grids and instructor carousels, and a long list of Pro Plus add-ons. For a single coach selling a few courses, that can be enough.

The trouble starts when the site has to match a real business. A tutoring company needs grades pulled from assignments into a report the parents can read. A marketplace needs instructors paid on a schedule, with tax handled properly. A training provider wants the mobile app to carry its own brand. These are the points where configuration stops and development begins, and they are the jobs we take on.

Pro Plus add-ons: configure first, code second

Before we write anything, we go through the add-ons you already have. MasterStudy Pro Plus includes Assignments, Gradebook, Drip Content, Prerequisites, Group Courses, the Point System, Certificates, Email Manager, the LMS Forms Editor and more. Many requests we hear as "custom work" turn out to be one of these, switched on and set up with care.

When something truly is missing, we build it as a separate plugin that talks to MasterStudy through its actions and filters. The Course Builder, for example, exposes filters for adding your own scripts and styles, which lets us add fields or panels for instructors without forking the plugin.

Customizing without breaking updates

A common reason MasterStudy sites end up on our desk: someone edited plugin files directly, the next update overwrote them, and the course pages broke. We keep changes in a child theme or a companion plugin, record every hook we use, and test each StylemixThemes release on staging before it reaches your students.

Design work follows the same rule. We restyle a native course page style such as Timeless or Dynamic with Short Sidebar, or build on the Elementor-based templates such as Masterclass and Minimalism, rather than hard-coding templates that fall out of date.

The mobile app is a project of its own

MasterStudy sells a Flutter-based app for iOS and Android that syncs with your WordPress database through an API plugin. It supports offline lesson downloads, push notifications and in-app purchases. Getting it into the stores under your name still takes work: branding, testing every lesson type on real devices, configuring purchases so they match your web pricing, and handling the review process on your developer accounts. We treat it as a separate milestone with its own test plan.

Moving to MasterStudy from another LMS

We migrate courses, quizzes, question banks, students and progress into MasterStudy from Moodle, Teachable, Thinkific and other WordPress plugins. Each migration starts with a trial run on staging and a checklist you sign off, so nobody finds missing lessons after launch.
