LMS for coaching institutes, test prep centers and trading academies
Run every batch, live class, recorded lecture and proctored mock test in one platform built for institutes with many students and instructors, not a single checkout page.
At a glance
- Batches as groups, centers as branches
- Live classes inside the course
- Proctored full-length mocks
- A bank built for competitive exams
- Phone sign-in and a home-screen app
The best LMS for coaching institutes, test prep centers and trading academies runs batches, live classes, recorded lectures and proctored mock tests in one place. Our top pick is LMS Advisor (our platform): groups for batches, branches for centers, Zoom or Google Meet classes inside each course, and a Test Center with native proctoring, hosted in our cloud or on your own server.
This page is for institutes with many students and several instructors: SAT, ACT, GRE, LSAT and MCAT prep, securities and real estate licensing prep, US institutes running JEE or NEET style batches, and trading academies teaching cohorts. It also fits institutes that outgrew Teachable, Thinkific or Kajabi and now need batches, proctored mocks and reports by center.
A solo trading coach whose main need is checkout, subscriptions, upsells and a community app will be happier on Kajabi, Skool or Whop, and our LMS Advisor vs Kajabi comparison says so plainly. A tutoring center whose real pain is scheduling, invoicing and payroll needs a center management tool such as Teachworks or Oases first, and can add an LMS for teaching and testing.
Many institutes start with Zoom for classes, unlisted YouTube links for recordings, Google Forms for tests and a spreadsheet for marks. That works for one batch. By the fourth batch and the second center, nobody can say who missed the last two mocks.
Why coaching institutes outgrow Zoom and Google Forms
Batches that never line up
The same syllabus runs as weekday, weekend and crash batches, each with its own instructor and test calendar. Keeping them in step eats the academic head's week.
Mock tests that leak
Screenshots of Sunday's mock reach Monday's batch through group chats, and students test at home with notes open. A Google Form never knows.
Premium lectures on Telegram
Recorded lectures and trade setups turn up on Telegram, Discord and group-buy sites days after a launch. Open links make it easy.
Progress nobody can show
Parents want proof their child is improving, and paying members want to see what they got. The data sits across Zoom, YouTube, Forms and a marks spreadsheet.
Creator platforms hit a ceiling
Product caps, no proctoring, no reports by center or instructor, and transaction fees that grow with revenue.
The advice line in trading education
FTC rules on earnings claims and testimonials, plus SEC and CFTC lines between education and personalized advice, shape what an academy can teach and promise.
How LMS Advisor fits a batch-based institute
Each program becomes a course, each batch or cohort becomes a group, and each center becomes a branch with its own manager view. Live classes, recordings, chapter quizzes and proctored full-length mocks sit in the same place, so an academic head can see from one report who in the weekend batch skipped the last two mocks.
Batches as groups, centers as branches
Instructors and center heads see only their own students, and head office sees all.
Live classes inside the course
Schedule Zoom or Google Meet sessions with a countdown and join button, post the recording after, and take attendance by QR or by hand.
Proctored full-length mocks
Webcam snapshots, face checks, lockdown and device lock per exam, with an evidence trail your team reviews.
A bank built for competitive exams
Question pools, difficulty levels and negative marking, with AI drafting new questions for a teacher to approve.
Phone sign-in and a home-screen app
Students log in with a one-time code by SMS or WhatsApp and install the PWA from the browser.
Reports you can send
Filter results by course, batch or branch and export them to CSV, Excel or PDF for parents or members.
Running batches, mocks and cohorts the practical way
Set up batches, centers and cohorts before any content
We usually build one course per program (SAT, GRE Quant, SIE, Options Foundations), then a group per batch: weekday evening, weekend, summer crash course. Each center becomes a branch, and roles decide what an instructor or center head can see, so the Houston manager sees only Houston students. Trading academies use groups for cohorts or membership tiers. Drip content by days after enrollment and turn on sequential progression so nobody reaches options strategy before the risk module.
Build mock tests that behave like the real exam, within limits
Put questions in the bank, tag them by topic and difficulty, and draw each mock from pools so papers vary between students. Negative marking is supported for JEE or NEET style papers. Chapter quizzes run inside courses, and full-length mocks run in the Test Center, where outside candidates can sit a mock series without a course enrollment, invited by email or signed in with an emailed one-time code. The 13 question types include image hotspot for diagrams and charts and recorded audio answers for speaking practice.
The digital SAT is adaptive by module, so the second module depends on how a student did in the first. LMS Advisor does not do adaptive testing. Fixed-form mocks are still good practice, but they are not a Bluebook replica.
For mocks that feed scholarships, rank-based admissions or paid results, switch on native proctoring: webcam snapshots, AI face checks for no face or a second face, fullscreen lockdown, logged tab switching and copy/paste, ID photo capture, and single-session and device lock. The platform collects evidence, and a person decides. If any of your students are under 13, read the amended COPPA Rule first, since it now treats facial templates and a child's photo, video or voice as personal information.
Trading academies: teach the method, keep the evidence
The legal risk in trading education sits mostly in marketing and in advice. In the FTC case against Online Trading Academy, the FTC said the sales pitch was filled with testimonials and hypothetical trades showing big profits, and the FTC later returned more than $5.4 million to more than 31,000 consumers. Under the FTC Endorsement Guides (16 CFR 255.2), a student testimonial implies typical results unless you can back it up or disclose what people generally achieve. On the advice side, 17 CFR 4.14(a)(9) excludes from CTA registration a person who does not direct accounts or give advice tailored to particular clients' positions, and the Investment Advisers Act definition turns on advising others about securities for compensation.
The LMS cannot make you compliant, but it can keep a record: put the risk disclosure in a required block at the start of each module, follow it with a scored knowledge check, and let audit logs and exports show who completed what and when. AI drafts are never auto-published, so a person checks them for guarantee language, and the AI Tutor can be switched off if your lawyer worries about account-specific advice. This is not legal advice. Have a securities lawyer review your curriculum and marketing.
How the main options compare
| Platform | Best for | What stands out (as of September 2026) | Trade-off for an institute |
|---|---|---|---|
| LMS Advisor (our platform) | Institutes that teach, test and report across batches and centers | Groups and branches, Zoom and Meet classes, Test Center with native proctoring, cloud or self-hosted | Selling runs through WooCommerce, and mobile is an installable PWA |
| Kajabi | A solo educator selling one flagship course | Native checkout, email marketing, branded mobile app, plans from $179 to $499 a month | The Basic plan allows 5 products and 2,500 contacts |
| Teachable | Creators selling a small catalog | iOS and Android student apps on all plans, Starter at $39 a month | Starter carries a 7.5% transaction fee, and certificates start on the $189 Growth plan |
| Edmingle | Exam prep providers wanting app-based delivery | Batch system, section-level timers, DRM and offline download claims, payment management | Proctoring comes through a Mettl integration |
| Learnyst | Trading course sellers who want store apps | DRM claims, white-labeled Android and iOS apps, Telegram integration, installment plans | Built around India's SEBI rules, and its own support article says no DRM fully stops screen capture |
| EdisonOS | SAT and ACT centers that want ready-made mocks | SAT and ACT mocks with a Bluebook-replica interface, parent dashboards | Priced by credits or licenses, and strongest when SAT and ACT are your main programs |
Sources: each vendor's own pricing or product pages, checked September 2026. If a replica SAT interface or store apps decide it, pick one of the others.
What we do not do
There is no native checkout, coupon, subscription or installment billing: you sell seats through your WooCommerce store, and token SSO signs buyers in. There are no App Store or Play Store apps and no offline downloads. We make no DRM, watermarking or screen-capture blocking claims for videos, and streaming is login-gated rather than uncopyable. There is no parent portal, per-batch rank list, scheduling or fee collection. We import Moodle and LearnDash courses but not Kajabi, Teachable or Thinkific, so plan to re-upload videos and bring questions in by CSV or API, using our LMS migration checklist.
From enrollment to the final mock
Build the program
Upload existing lectures to the Media Library or record new ones in the Recording Studio, and let AI draft lessons and questions for review.
Organize batches
Create groups for batches or cohorts and branches for centers, then set drip, sequential progression and minimum lesson time.
Teach live
Run Zoom or Google Meet classes from inside the course, post the recording and mark attendance.
Test and proctor
Use chapter quizzes in the course and full proctored mocks in the Test Center, drawn from the same bank.
Report and follow up
Export results by batch or branch, and let email rules chase students who never started or stalled.
Where institutes and academies use it
Batch-based test prep
One course per exam, a group per batch, live classes with recordings, weekly quizzes and a proctored full-length mock every other weekend.
Mock test series for outside candidates
Give students from other institutes access to a mock series in the Test Center with no course enrollment, invited by email or one-time code.
Trading academy cohorts
A foundations course with drip and gated lessons, live market reviews, interactive video with questions on chart setups, and a verifiable certificate of completion.
Multi-center institutes
Each center runs as a branch with its own manager, and head office compares completion and mock scores across all of them.
Licensing exam prep
Securities, real estate and insurance prep with chapter quizzes, a proctored practice exam and a certificate on pass that anyone can verify online.
What academic heads and center managers notice
- Every batch follows the same syllabus and test calendar
- Proctored mock scores come with an evidence trail
- Recordings live behind a login, not on open links
- Center heads answer parent questions without calling head office
- Trading academies can show who completed each risk disclosure
