LMS Advisor vs Docebo

LMS Advisor vs Docebo: enterprise suite or exam-first LMS?

Docebo is a mature enterprise learning suite. LMS Advisor is a smaller LMS with its own exam and proctoring engine that you can run on your own server. Here is where each one fits, checked against Docebo’s own pages.

Our honest take

Docebo is the stronger pick for a large enterprise that wants a fully managed SaaS suite with a big integration catalog, licensed content, extended-enterprise portals and native mobile apps, and that is comfortable with a per-active-user contract. LMS Advisor fits better when proctored exams and certification sit at the center of the program, when you want to host the platform yourself, or when you need SAML with SCIM, LTI 1.3 tool-provider launches and question types such as coding and video answers. If you need a content library or white-label partner portals today, we are not the right answer yet.

If Docebo is on your shortlist, you probably run training for a large or spread-out organization: employees, maybe customers and partners too, several business units, a few languages. Docebo is built for that buyer. Its pricing FAQ says it is typically best suited to organizations training 250 or more learners, and it sells a long list of add-ons around the core platform.

LMS Advisor starts from a different place. We built an LMS where the exam engine and proctoring are part of the product rather than a partner integration, and you can run it in our cloud or on your own PHP and MySQL server. It is smaller, and Docebo does several things we don’t. This page lays both out, row by row, using Docebo’s public pages as they stood in September 2026.

Which one fits

Choosing between the two

LMS Advisor is the better fit if

  • Proctored certification, licensing or hiring exams are central, and you want proctoring inside the LMS instead of through a separate provider.
  • Your policies require the platform, learner records and exam evidence to live on a server you control.
  • Your assessments need coding questions, image hotspots, or recorded audio and video answers.
  • Other LMSs or partner portals need to launch your courses over LTI 1.3 and receive grades back.

Docebo is the better fit if

  • You are a large enterprise that wants a fully managed SaaS suite, with sandboxes, named account staff and a vendor that runs hosting end to end.
  • You want licensed off-the-shelf courses inside the LMS, which Docebo Content provides through partners such as Go1 and OpenSesame.
  • You already train customers, partners or resellers in separately branded portals across several domains.
  • You rely on a broad prebuilt integration catalog, or need native iOS and Android apps with offline downloads.
Where they differ

Where the two really differ

Most of the gap comes down to scope. Docebo covers more ground around the LMS, and we go further on exams, standards and where the platform runs.

Proctoring lives on the exam

Webcam snapshots, AI face checks, lockdown and device lock are settings on each LMS Advisor exam. Docebo proctors through Honorlock, which also offers live human proctors.

Candidates without a course

Our Test Center invites candidates by email with one-time-code sign-in and no enrollment. In Docebo, a test sits inside a course.

Your server is an option

LMS Advisor runs in our cloud or on your own PHP and MySQL host. Docebo is SaaS on AWS.

Docebo’s catalog is bigger

Hundreds of integrations, licensed content and extended-enterprise portals. We have no content library, and our multi-tenant support is early.

LTI in opposite directions

Docebo launches external LTI tools. LMS Advisor is the tool: other platforms launch our courses over LTI 1.3 and get grades back.

In depth

The detail behind the table

Two different starting points

Docebo sells a learning suite. The core platform comes in two tiers, and around it sit add-ons for extended enterprise, licensed content, communities, gamified learning, e-commerce, a branded mobile app, Salesforce and Microsoft Teams. Pricing is custom, based on the tier and how you count active users (monthly, yearly or registered), and the pricing FAQ says most customers sign three to five year contracts.

LMS Advisor is narrower: an LMS and an exam platform in one codebase that we host for you or you install yourself. If your requirements list reads like an enterprise RFP with dozens of integrations, Docebo will tick more boxes. If it reads like “we need defensible exams and our data on our own infrastructure”, we are worth a close look.

Exams and proctoring

In Docebo, a test is training material inside a course, built from eight question types. Proctoring comes through the Docebo for Honorlock integration, which mixes AI and human proctoring and lets you review sessions inside Docebo. If you need people watching candidates live, that route gives you something we don’t.

Our exams sit in a separate Test Center with its own candidate portal. A candidate gets an email invite and signs in with a one-time code, without any course enrollment. Proctoring is configured per exam: periodic webcam snapshots, AI face monitoring for no face or a second face, fullscreen lockdown, logged tab switching and copy/paste, ID photo capture, device lock, virtual-machine detection and optional microphone clips (with consent) that can be transcribed. Each flag lands in an evidence trail your reviewers open when a result is disputed. Coding questions run against test drivers through Judge0 or Piston. The setup is covered on our proctoring page.

Content, standards and LTI

Both platforms play SCORM 1.2 and 2004 and xAPI with a built-in LRS. Docebo also accepts AICC, which we do not. We support cmi5, which we did not find in the Docebo articles we read. Our caveat: SCORM 2004 packages with multi-SCO sequencing launch only their entry resource.

LTI runs in opposite directions. Docebo is an LTI consumer that launches external tools inside its courses, and its help center notes that LTI 1.3 support is basic, without deep linking. LMS Advisor is an LTI 1.3 tool provider with grade passback, so a university LMS or a partner’s platform can launch our courses and receive scores.

Docebo Content is a real advantage if you want ready-made courses: it resells libraries from partners such as Go1 and OpenSesame under one contract. We have no library. You build in our authoring tools or upload packages published from Storyline, Rise or Captivate.

AI on both sides

Docebo’s creator tools generate lessons and assessments, translate text, produce AI avatar videos and run roleplay practice, and its Harmony assistant adds an AI tutor and conversational analytics for admins. Admins can disable AI features except global search.

In LMS Advisor, the admin chooses Anthropic or OpenAI, or turns AI off. You get course and lesson generation, rewrite tools, question generation with a question-bank audit, AI rubric grading that an instructor approves, and a branded AI Tutor that answers from course context. Nothing an AI drafts goes live until a person publishes it.

Audiences, selling and hosting

Docebo’s Extended Enterprise runs separately branded experiences for customers, partners and resellers. Our organizations, branches and groups handle departments and client companies, but multi-tenant portals are early. For selling, Docebo has an e-commerce pack with coupons and several payment gateways, while we sell through WooCommerce with our plugin and token SSO.

Docebo’s service descriptions describe SaaS hosted on AWS. LMS Advisor can also run on your own server, including ordinary cPanel or VPS hosting, with in-app migrations, backups and a system-health screen. That matters when policy says learner records and exam evidence must stay on infrastructure you control. More on our data ownership page.

Switching

Moving from Docebo in four steps

List what Docebo does for you now

Export your course list, learning plans, certification rules with their expiry periods, and any e-commerce or extended-enterprise setup. Anything built on Docebo Content, AICC or partner portals needs its own plan, because we cannot take those over as they are.

Rebuild content from source files

Upload SCORM, xAPI or cmi5 packages from your authoring tool. Single-choice, multiple-choice, true/false and short-answer questions import into the question bank from CSV or XLSX. Other formats are rebuilt by hand.

Connect identity and bring people over

Connect your identity provider over SAML 2.0 and let SCIM 2.0 create accounts, or bulk-import users from a JSON file. Recreate organizations and groups, enroll by CSV, and keep an export of Docebo completion records for your audit history.

Pilot one exam, then cut over

Run one proctored exam and one required course in parallel with Docebo. Check the evidence trail, certificate verification and reports, then schedule the switch well ahead of your renewal date.

FAQ

What Docebo buyers ask us

Is LMS Advisor a realistic Docebo alternative for a large enterprise?
For some enterprises, yes. If your priorities are proctored exams, self-hosting and standards such as SAML, SCIM and LTI 1.3, those are core to our product. If you need a content marketplace, hundreds of prebuilt integrations, extended-enterprise portals or native store apps, Docebo is the more complete fit today.
Does LMS Advisor have a content library like Docebo Content?
No. We do not sell or bundle off-the-shelf courses. Teams build in our authoring tools, generate drafts with AI and edit them, or upload SCORM, xAPI and cmi5 packages from their own tools and vendors.
How is proctoring different between the two?
LMS Advisor proctoring is native and set per exam, with no third-party vendor. Docebo offers proctoring through its Honorlock integration, which combines AI and human proctors. If live human proctoring is a hard requirement, that route covers it and we do not.
Can Docebo be self-hosted?
Docebo’s service descriptions present it as SaaS hosted on AWS, and we did not find an on-premise option on its public pages. LMS Advisor runs in our cloud or on your own PHP and MySQL server, with in-app migrations and backups for self-hosted installs.
We sell training through Docebo e-commerce. What would change?
You would sell through WooCommerce instead. LMS Advisor has no native checkout, coupons or subscriptions. Our plugin enrolls WooCommerce buyers and signs them in with token SSO, so you need a WooCommerce store or a plan to set one up.
How does pricing compare?
Both are quote-based, but they count differently. Docebo prices by tier and active users with a one-year minimum contract, according to its pricing FAQ. Our quotes depend on cloud or self-hosted, learner numbers and modules, so ask both vendors to price the same learner count.
Can we bring our SCORM courses over from Docebo?
Yes, if you have the packages. SCORM 1.2 and 2004 packages upload as lessons, though multi-SCO SCORM 2004 packages launch only their entry resource, so test those first. AICC packages need republishing as SCORM, xAPI or cmi5.
