LMS Advisor installs as a Progressive Web App on Android, iPhone, iPad and desktop. It carries your branding, opens in its own window like an app, and never waits for a store review.

If your learners stand at a counter, drive a route or work a ward, the training has to fit on the phone in their pocket. The usual answer is a native app, and with it come developer accounts, store reviews, version drift and a conversation with IT about device management.
We took another route. The learner side of LMS Advisor is a Progressive Web App. Learners open your LMS address in the browser, tap Install (or Share, then Add to Home Screen on an iPhone), and get an icon, a launch screen and a full-screen window with your name on it. Underneath is the same responsive learner area they use on a laptop, so there is one thing to maintain.
Why mobile training keeps stalling
No desk, no laptop
Frontline staff train in short gaps between tasks. If a course needs a laptop, it waits for a quiet week that never arrives.
Store apps are a project of their own
Native apps mean developer accounts, review queues and a release for every change. Small L&D teams can’t carry that.
Shared devices
Store tablets and ward devices pass from hand to hand. Anything cached on them can end up in front of the next person.
Patchy signal
Basements, warehouses and rural routes drop the connection mid-lesson. Learners need to know their progress wasn’t lost.

On Android and desktop Chrome, learners see an Install banner. On iPhone and iPad, a short prompt shows them Share, then Add to Home Screen.
Your name, icon and colors
Set the app name, short name, theme color and splash background. Icons and iPhone and iPad launch screens are generated from your logo.
Honest offline handling
Progress is saved to the server as learners go. If the signal drops, they get a branded offline screen with a Retry button, not a browser error.
Built for shared devices
Private files are never cached on the device, and cached images are cleared when a learner signs out.
A mobile menu you control
Reorder, rename or hide learner menu items, and pick up to five for the phone bottom bar.
Notifications and languages
An in-app notification bell, optional Firebase push, dark mode, and an interface in eight languages including right-to-left Urdu.

How installation works
There is no store listing. With the PWA enabled, the learner area serves a web app manifest and a service worker. Chrome on Android and desktop recognizes them, and LMS Advisor shows an Install banner with your icon. Dismiss it and it stays away for seven days. Safari on iPhone and iPad never offers an install prompt, so learners there get a small guide pointing to Share, then Add to Home Screen. Once installed, the app opens in its own window without browser bars.
Branding the app
The PWA settings hold the app name, a short name for under the icon (about 12 characters), theme color, splash background color, display mode, orientation, start page and optional home-screen shortcuts. Upload a square icon, or skip it and the platform uses your square logo. From that one image it renders every icon size Android and desktop ask for, the iPhone home-screen icon and launch screens for current iPhone and iPad sizes. Change a color and the set is rebuilt for installed apps too. Even the iPhone status bar follows your theme, with white text on dark colors and dark text on light ones.
What happens offline
We want to be precise, because “works offline” is often oversold. Lessons, quizzes and videos need a connection. What the app does is save progress to the server as learners complete lessons, cache its own styles, scripts and public images so screens load quickly, and show a branded “You are offline” page with a Retry button when a page is opened without signal. On a patchy site, a learner loses a page load, not their place in the course.
Shared and kiosk devices
The service worker only caches images from public folders such as course thumbnails, avatars and logos, within a 20 MB budget. It never stores proctoring images, assignment uploads or My Drive files, and it respects the server’s no-store instructions. Signing out, or landing on a sign-in page after a session times out, clears the image cache, so the next person on a store tablet doesn’t see what the last one was studying.
Updates
Pages come from your server, so an edited lesson is live the moment you publish it. Platform updates replace cached files automatically, and installed apps check for a new version every hour.

Brand the app
Set the app name, colors and icon in the PWA settings, or let it reuse your square logo.
Shape the mobile menu
Choose up to five bottom-bar items, such as Home, Courses, Calendar and Certificates, and hide what this audience doesn’t need.
Share one address
Send learners your LMS URL by email, team chat or a QR poster. They sign in the way they already do.
Install on first visit
The Install banner on Android, or the Add to Home Screen prompt on iPhone, puts your icon next to their other apps.
Keep them informed
Course completions and newly scheduled webinars appear in the notification bell, and on devices too once Firebase push is connected.

Short product lessons on a phone between customers, and a shared store tablet that is safe to hand over at shift change.

Technicians open a procedure refresher on site. If the signal dies in a plant room, the offline screen tells them to retry.
