LMS Advisor vs 360Learning: which one fits your training?
360Learning is a collaborative learning platform where in-house experts author courses, with a published Team plan and enterprise tiers on quote. LMS Advisor is built around proctored exams, outside candidates and a server you own. Checked against 360Learning’s own pages in October 2026.
Our honest take
Pick 360Learning if your training is written by in-house experts, you want forums and co-authoring built into the course, and a SOC 2 and ISO 27001 vendor matters. Pick LMS Advisor if you run proctored or certification exams, examine candidates who never enroll in a course, need the LMS to act as an LTI tool, or want to self-host on a one-time license.
360Learning’s idea is that the people who know the work should write the training. Co-authoring, forums, upvotes and an AI content builder turn documents into courses, paths add live classrooms and assessments, and hierarchical groups with Extended Academies cover customers and partners. It publishes a Team plan at $8 per user a month for up to 100 users and quotes Business and Enterprise.
LMS Advisor shares the AI drafting and the group structure and differs on exams and hosting. Proctoring is a setting on each exam where 360Learning’s pages describe none, candidates can be examined without a course enrollment, and the product runs on your own server as well as our cloud, with a one-time license for that route. Below is where each product wins, with every 360Learning fact taken from 360Learning’s own site and help center.

Choosing between the two
LMS Advisor is the better fit if
- You run certification or pre-hire exams that need webcam proctoring, ID capture and an evidence trail, which 360Learning’s pages do not offer.
- Candidates sit exams without a course enrollment, or a campus LMS must launch your exams over LTI 1.3.
- You need a timed exam with pools, negative marking and item analysis rather than quiz steps in a path.
- You want the LMS on your own server, with a one-time license instead of a subscription.
360Learning is the better fit if
- Your subject-matter experts write the training, and you want co-authoring, forums and upvotes inside every course.
- Your HR system is Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle HCM or UKG, and your security review requires SOC 2 and ISO 27001.
- You want a published entry price for a small team, a report builder with BI connectors and a 38-language interface.
Where the two really differ
Six differences come up in nearly every 360Learning conversation. Collaborative authoring, content partnerships and certification favor 360Learning. Exams, hosting and the license model favor LMS Advisor.
Proctoring is built into the exam
360Learning’s video pitch question records a webcam answer for a person to mark, and its pages name no identity check, lockdown or proctoring partner. LMS Advisor adds webcam snapshots, AI face checks, fullscreen lockdown, ID photo capture and violation limits as settings on each exam.
Candidates who never join a course
In 360Learning an assessment is a step inside a path. Our Test Center has its own candidate portal with email invites and one-time-code sign-in, which is how certification bodies and hiring teams examine outsiders.
360Learning wins on collaborative authoring
Co-authors, a private author forum, course versioning, learner forums with upvotes and an AI content builder make 360Learning the stronger tool for expert-written training. LMS Advisor has interactive modules, interactive video, a Recording Studio, a discussion forum and AI drafting, but not co-authoring.
Both import cmi5, one is an LTI tool
360Learning imports SCORM and cmi5 and can embed LTI tool content. LMS Advisor runs SCORM, xAPI with its own LRS and cmi5, and acts as an LTI 1.3 tool with grade passback, so a university or client LMS can launch your exams.
A published entry price against a quote
360Learning publishes a Team plan at $8 per user a month for up to 100 users and quotes Business and Enterprise. LMS Advisor is quoted on learner numbers, modules and hosting, and a self-hosted install can be bought on a one-time license.
Cloud only against your own server
360Learning runs on Microsoft Azure and states no self-hosted option. LMS Advisor runs in our cloud or installs on ordinary cPanel or VPS hosting with in-app updates.
The details that decide a 360Learning comparison
Two ideas of how a course gets written
360Learning is built around collaborative learning. Experts co-author courses with versioning and a private author forum, learners discuss and upvote inside the course, and the AI content builder turns a PDF or slide deck into cheat sheets and questions. Paths add classrooms, assessments and quizzes with start and end dates. For internal expertise that changes often, that model is hard to beat.
LMS Advisor’s authoring is browser based and single-author: interactive modules with required blocks, interactive video with timestamped questions, a Recording Studio, and AI that drafts courses, lessons and questions for a person to approve. There is a discussion forum with mentions and solutions, but no co-authoring or author forum. SCORM, xAPI and cmi5 packages upload as lessons.
Exams and proctoring
360Learning has ten question types including video pitch and screencast demo, reuses questions between courses, serves a random subset per learner, and sets a minimum score and attempts per path step. Its help pages state no timed-exam setting, no identity verification, no lockdown browser and no proctoring partner. The video pitch records a webcam answer for a human evaluator.
LMS Advisor’s question bank has 14 types with pools, difficulty levels, negative marking, a server-enforced time limit and nightly item analysis. Proctoring is configured per exam: periodic webcam snapshots, AI face monitoring, fullscreen lockdown, logged tab switches and copy or paste, ID photo capture, device lock and violation limits that can end an attempt. The Test Center examines candidates who are not enrolled anywhere, with an appeal step and a results page you control.
Standards, identity and integrations
Both products import SCORM 2004 and cmi5. 360Learning accepts xAPI and AICC but recommends against them, holds one file per imported course and cannot play xAPI or cmi5 offline. LMS Advisor keeps xAPI statements in a built-in LRS and forwards them to yours. On LTI the roles differ: 360Learning embeds external LTI tools, LMS Advisor is the tool other platforms launch.
Both offer SAML single sign-on and SCIM provisioning; 360Learning’s SCIM is an add-on, ours is included. 360Learning’s HR connectors cover Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, BambooHR, Oracle HCM, UKG, Personio and HiBob, with a Salesforce app. LMS Advisor syncs BambooHR, Zoho People and Keka with CSV for the rest, pushes events to HubSpot and Zoho CRM, and sends signed webhooks for 15 events.
Pricing, hosting and certification
360Learning publishes a Team plan at $8 per user a month, billed monthly with no annual commitment, up to 100 users, with a 30-day trial and add-ons at $2 per user a month; Business and Enterprise are quoted on annual contracts (October 2026). It runs only on Microsoft Azure and states SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001. Selling is an optional, separately priced BigCommerce storefront capped at $50,000 a year.
LMS Advisor is quote-based on learner numbers, modules and hosting. The cloud is a subscription; a standard self-hosted install on ordinary cPanel or VPS hosting can be bought on a one-time license. We hold no attestation and will say so on your questionnaire. Selling runs through your WooCommerce store with our plugin and has no revenue cap.
Moving from 360Learning to LMS Advisor
Export what you own
Download your SCORM and cmi5 packages, videos and documents, and run custom reports for users, path progress and certificates to CSV from 360Learning before the contract ends.
Upload content as lessons
In LMS Advisor, create courses and upload SCORM, xAPI and cmi5 packages, videos and documents as lessons. Courses written natively in 360Learning are rebuilt in the module builder, or drafted by AI from the exported documents for an author to approve.
Map groups to organizations
Top-level 360Learning groups and Extended Academies become organizations with their own branding, sign-in page and managers. Import users by CSV with their organization, or connect SAML and SCIM so the directory creates them.
Rebuild exams and go live
Rebuild quizzes in the question bank, set up proctored exams in the Test Center, reissue current path certificates with their expiry dates, and point learners at the new sign-in before you close the 360Learning platform.
