LMS Advisor vs iSpring Learn

LMS Advisor vs iSpring Learn: which one fits your training?

iSpring Learn, renamed iSpring LMS in October 2025, bundles a strong authoring tool and a course library with a corporate LMS. LMS Advisor puts proctored exams, outside candidates and self-hosting first. Checked against iSpring’s own pages in October 2026.

Our honest take

Pick iSpring Learn if your team authors in iSpring Suite, wants a ready-made course library and prefers a published per-user price. Pick LMS Advisor if you run proctored or certification exams, examine candidates who are not enrolled in a course, need SCIM provisioning, or want a one-time license on your own server.

iSpring built its name on iSpring Suite, the PowerPoint-based authoring tool, and its LMS comes with that tool in every plan. If your team already makes courses in iSpring Suite, the LMS is the natural next step, and the published per-user prices make budgeting simple.

LMS Advisor comes at training from the exam side. Proctoring is an exam setting rather than a partner add-on, candidates can sit a test without ever being enrolled in a course, and the same product runs in our cloud or on your own server with a one-time license option. Below is where each product wins, with every iSpring fact taken from iSpring’s own pages and help center.

Which one fits

Choosing between the two

LMS Advisor is the better fit if

  • You run certification or pre-hire exams that need webcam proctoring, ID capture and an evidence trail built into the exam, not a partner add-on.
  • Candidates sit exams without a course enrollment, invited by email or signed in with a one-time code.
  • You want SCIM provisioning, cmi5 or LTI 1.3 grade passback from day one.
  • You want a one-time license on your own server rather than a per-user subscription.

iSpring Learn is the better fit if

  • Your team authors in iSpring Suite or wants a desktop authoring tool bundled with the LMS.
  • You need a ready-made course library or Udemy, Go1 and LinkedIn Learning content inside the LMS.
  • You want a published per-user price, an ISO 27001 certified vendor and a 36-language interface.
Where they differ

Where the two really differ

Six differences come up in nearly every iSpring conversation. Authoring and the course library favor iSpring, exams and hosting favor LMS Advisor, and pricing is a question of whether you want a published list price or a quote.

Proctoring is an exam setting, not a partner

iSpring routes proctoring through its OctoProctor integration. In LMS Advisor, webcam snapshots, AI face checks, fullscreen lockdown, ID photo capture and violation limits are switches on each exam, and the evidence trail stays in the same product.

Candidates who never join a course

iSpring tests live inside courses and learning tracks. Our Test Center has its own candidate portal with email invites and one-time-code sign-in, which is how certification bodies and hiring teams examine outsiders.

iSpring Suite comes in the box

Every iSpring plan includes iSpring Suite, a mature desktop authoring tool with quizzes, role-plays and a content library. Our authoring is browser based and built into the LMS, with interactive video and AI drafting, but there is no desktop tool and no library.

A list price against a quote

iSpring publishes per-active-user prices from 100 users up, billed annually. LMS Advisor is quoted on learner numbers, modules and hosting, and self-hosted installs can be bought on a one-time license instead of a subscription.

Both run on your own servers

iSpring offers an on-premise installation at an extra cost. LMS Advisor installs on ordinary cPanel or VPS hosting with in-app updates, and the one-time license applies to that route.

SCIM and cmi5 included

iSpring’s pages cover SAML, JWT and OpenID sign-in and a set of HR connectors, but do not state SCIM or cmi5. LMS Advisor provisions users and groups over SCIM 2.0 and runs cmi5 packages alongside SCORM and xAPI.

In depth

The details that decide an iSpring comparison

Authoring: desktop tool against built-in editor

iSpring Suite is the reason many teams choose iSpring. It sits inside PowerPoint, exports HTML5 and SCORM, and comes with quizzes, role-play simulations, text to speech and a content library. iSpring’s LMS bundles it with every plan, and adds AI course creation from uploaded files. If your instructional designers already work this way, that is a strong reason to stay.

LMS Advisor has no desktop tool. Authoring happens in the browser: interactive modules with required blocks, interactive video with timestamped questions that rewind on a wrong answer, a Recording Studio for screen and camera recordings, and AI that drafts lessons and questions for a person to approve. Content made in iSpring Suite still works here, because SCORM 1.2 and 2004 packages upload as lessons, as do xAPI and cmi5 packages.

Exams, proctoring and outside candidates

iSpring’s quiz rules cover attempts, a passing score, a time limit from 1 to 600 minutes and shuffled questions and answers, and its page exercises offer seven question types. Proctoring comes through the OctoProctor integration, which monitors, records and verifies identity, on both cloud and on-premise editions. iSpring’s pages do not state question banks or pools, and tests are items inside courses or learning tracks.

LMS Advisor keeps a shared question bank with 14 question types, pools, difficulty levels, negative marking and nightly item analysis. Proctoring is configured per exam: periodic webcam snapshots, AI face monitoring, fullscreen lockdown, logged tab switches and copy or paste, ID photo capture, device lock and violation limits that can end an attempt. The Test Center examines candidates who are not enrolled anywhere, invited by email or signed in with a one-time code, with an appeal step and a results page you control.

Pricing and hosting

iSpring publishes its Business plan per active user, meaning anyone who logged in during the month: $6.91 per user a month at 100 users, $4.46 at 300 and $3.97 at 500, each billed annually, with smaller accounts and Enterprise quoted (October 2026). On-premise installation costs extra. There are no nonprofit or academic discounts on the pricing page.

LMS Advisor is quote-based on learner numbers, modules and hosting. The cloud is a subscription. A standard self-hosted install can be bought on a one-time license, with updates and support set out in the quote, and nonprofits can ask for a discount or a tailored quote. We do not publish a list price, which is a fair reason to prefer iSpring if a budget line must be filled in now.

Identity, compliance and reporting

Both products offer SAML 2.0 single sign-on. iSpring adds JWT and OpenID and secures accounts with an email-code second factor. LMS Advisor adds SCIM 2.0 provisioning, Google sign-in, passkeys and app-based two-factor authentication. iSpring cites ISO 27001 and ISO 27701; LMS Advisor holds no such attestation and will say so on your questionnaire. Neither product has a drag-and-drop report builder on its pages. iSpring exports reports to CSV and XLSX on a schedule; LMS Advisor exports CSV, Excel and PDF and keeps an audit log of admin actions.

Switching

Moving from iSpring Learn to LMS Advisor

Export what you own

Download your SCORM packages from iSpring Suite projects, your videos and documents, and export the user and certificate reports to CSV or XLSX from iSpring’s reports.

Upload content as lessons

In LMS Advisor, create courses and upload SCORM 1.2 or 2004 packages, videos and documents as lessons. Interactive modules and quizzes are rebuilt in the browser editor, or drafted by AI from your source files for an author to approve.

Bring users across

Import the user CSV with departments and managers, or connect SAML and SCIM so your directory creates the accounts. Organizations and groups take the place of iSpring departments.

Rebuild exams and go live

Set up question banks and proctored exams in the Test Center, reissue current certificates with their expiry dates, and point learners at the new sign-in before you close the iSpring account.

FAQ

Questions iSpring users ask us

Is iSpring Learn the same product as iSpring LMS?
Yes. iSpring says that from October 22, 2025 all iSpring Learn product pages moved to the iSpring LMS site at ispring.com, with logins, data and links unchanged. This page uses both names because most people still search for iSpring Learn.
Can LMS Advisor import my iSpring Learn courses?
There is no direct iSpring importer. Content built in iSpring Suite exports as SCORM, which uploads to LMS Advisor as lessons, and videos and documents upload as they are. Users come across by CSV or SCIM. Quiz questions written inside iSpring are rebuilt in our question bank.
Does iSpring Learn have proctoring?
Through a partner. iSpring’s help center describes an OctoProctor integration for monitoring, recording and identity checks during tests, on cloud and on-premise accounts. LMS Advisor’s proctoring is native and set per exam, with webcam snapshots, AI face checks, lockdown, ID capture and violation limits.
Which one is cheaper?
iSpring publishes its Business plan at $6.91 per active user a month for 100 users, billed annually, falling to $3.97 at 500 users, with smaller and larger accounts quoted (October 2026). LMS Advisor is quote-based, and a self-hosted install can be bought on a one-time license. Ask us for a quote with your learner numbers and compare the two totals over three years.
Can either product run on my own server?
Both. iSpring offers an on-premise installation at an additional cost. LMS Advisor installs on ordinary cPanel or VPS hosting, updates from the admin, and is the route where the one-time license applies.
Does LMS Advisor include a course library like iSpring?
No. iSpring bundles a Course Library and connects to Udemy, Go1, LinkedIn Learning and GoodHabitz. LMS Advisor has no library, so content comes from your team, SCORM vendors or AI drafts that an author approves.
What about SCIM and HR sync?
iSpring lists SAML, JWT and OpenID sign-in and connectors for BambooHR, OrangeHRM and PeopleWeek, but its pages do not state SCIM. LMS Advisor provisions users and groups over SCIM 2.0 from Okta, Entra ID and OneLogin, syncs HR data from BambooHR, Zoho People and Keka, and takes CSV uploads from any other system.
